Countryside Drift

Drivin’ away to a forever place
gettin’ rid of the money, throwin’ away the ace
the sound of the roadway all in my ears
on through the night, smoking away my fears
the radio’s loud so I don’t have to think
not knowing what the next mile will bring
the tall, blonde fields sway in the breeze
my tired feet and stiffening knees
the golden sun sets behind the grassy plain
searching inside, who is really to blame
I slip through the nighttime’s howling echoes
losing myself in it’s passionate throes
gliding and breezing, rhythmic enchantment
the law and my silence suggesting entrapment
escape from the Saw, eluded falling rain
the man in the lighthouse, he walks with a cane
drifting with the Spirit, pain is all I see
IS THERE ANYTHING OUT THERE LEFT FOR ME
ANYONE OUT THERE
THAT WILL STOOP TO HEAR
MY PLEA
the Shaman sings me to sleep
