“I stare into a night…”

I stare into a night
of a thousand love affairs
behind the city’s closed doors
and up their darkened stairs

the night reaches out
to entrap what it may
nothing can save you
from the darkness and his blade

the night enemy to good
advocator of doom
so won’t you light a candle
so I can find your room

won’t you give me a sign
something to show me the light
and carry me from
the desolate night

the hammer will fall
when the clock winds down
so you best pack a rod
if you’re goin’ downtown

(from “Part Three: Seduced By Fantasy…”)

No idea where this one came from – maybe Gotham. Sounds serious.
